About ASCAPAP
The Asian Society for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professions (ASCAPAP) is the most influential international organization dedicated to promoting child and adolescent mental health across the Asian region.
Our History
The roots of the society trace back to the 1990 World Congress of the International Association for Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Allied Professions (IACAPAP) held in Kyoto, Japan. During the congress, delegates from various Asian nations expressed a strong desire to explore child and adolescent mental health through a distinctly Asian cultural lens. This collective vision culminated in the official founding of ASCAPAP and its inaugural congress in Tokyo, Japan, in 1996. Since its inception, ASCAPAP has successfully hosted 12 biennial congresses across major Asian cities, spanning:
-
Tokyo, Japan
-
Seoul, South Korea
-
Taipei, Taiwan
-
Manila, Philippines
-
Singapore
-
Beijing, China
-
New Delhi, India
-
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
-
Yogyakarta, Indonesia
-
Chiang Mai, Thailand
-
Kyoto, Japan
-
Seoul, South Korea
Our Mission
ASCAPAP has long served as a pivotal platform for regional policy advocacy and academic exchange. It brings together multidisciplinary experts from psychiatry, clinical psychology, social work, early intervention, and public health to address core issues such as cultural differences, the digital generation, trauma recovery, suicide prevention, and school mental health.
ASCAPAP 2027
Following its successful hosting in 2003, Taiwan is proud to host the 13th ASCAPAP Congress in 2027. Under the theme "Advancing Brain, Mind, and Society for the Next Generation", this year's congress will showcase Taiwan's professional expertise and innovative achievements in child and adolescent mental health care. We look forward to fostering international collaboration and regional dialogue to co-create a brighter future for mental health in Asia.
